Daniela M. Gonzalez

DANIELA M. GONZALEZ, ESQ.  is an associate at Gaitan Law Group, focusing her practice in the areas of FDA regulatory compliance and health care.

Ms. Gonzalez began working at Gaitan Law Group as law clerk  in the firm’s FDA practice group, while in law school.  Since becoming an associate atMs. Gonzalez advises clients in the food, dietary supplement, drug, cosmetic, device and tobacco industries on a number of regulatory issues.  She works alongside clients to develop comprehensive regulatory strategies that satisfy both federal (FDA) and State (DBPR) requirements.  Ms. Gonzalez has developed a particular strength within the cosmetic industry, where her keen ability to identify potentially problematic claims and revise them in consideration of recent FDA enforcement actions has proven to be incredibly valuable to our clients.  Ms. Gonzalez also works with in-State cosmetic manufacturers to obtain a cosmetic manufacturer permit from Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), assisting clients with everything from development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to labeling and product registrations.

Prior to joining Gaitan Law Group, Ms. Gonzalez interned for the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (“OMHA”) for a year, where she worked alongside administrative law judges (ALJ) in making determinations on Medicare coverage and payment appeals regarding items and services furnished to Medicare beneficiaries.  Her experience at the OMHA  has made Ms. Gonzalez a valuable asset to the firm’s health care practice, where she regularly counsels clients on reimbursement questions, overpayment appeals, provider suspension rebuttals, revalidations, and other related provider issues. While in law school, Ms. Gonzalez served as a Student Attorney for the Health Law clinic at FIU, where she assisted beneficiaries with their disability benefits. Ms. Gonzalez also served as a Legal Intern for the Public Defender’s officer, 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.

Ms. Gonzalez graduated from Florida International University with a dual degree in Criminal Justice and International Relations. She received her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law, where she warned Dean’s List honors, and was a Pro-Bono Award recipient for having completed over 130 hours of charitable legal work. While in law school, Ms. Gonzalez served as a Staff Editor on the Florida International University Law Review, where she authored a comment relating to how the Yates Memo written by the Department of Justice would affect healthcare providers.

Ms. Gonzalez was also an active member of several organizations at the Florida International University School of Law and served on the executive board of the Women’s Law Society.
